How do I get SDVOSB certified?
Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business certification runs through SBA’s VetCert portal (it moved from VA in 2023). You need 51%+ ownership and control by one or more service-disabled veterans plus small size. Certification is required to win SDVOSB set-asides government-wide.
Since January 2023, SBA administers veteran certifications through VetCert — self-certification for SDVOSB set-asides has been phased out. Requirements: the firm is small under its NAICS, and service-disabled veterans (VA-rated) own at least 51% and control day-to-day and long-term decisions.
The strongest SDVOSB market is the VA itself, where Vets First gives veteran-owned firms priority — but SDVOSB set-asides appear across every agency.
