What is SAM.gov and do I need it to win federal contracts?

SAM.gov is the US government’s official System for Award Management. You must have an active SAM.gov registration with a Unique Entity ID to be eligible for federal contract awards, and it’s where every federal opportunity is legally posted.

SAM.gov (the System for Award Management) is the official US government registration and opportunity portal. It serves two purposes: it is where businesses register to be eligible for federal awards, and it is where contracting officers post solicitations.

You cannot be paid by the federal government without an active SAM.gov registration and a Unique Entity ID (UEI). Registration is free. WinAContract adds a faster search and AI bid-writing layer on top of SAM.gov’s data — it complements SAM rather than replacing it.
